SASANIAN KINGS. Khosrau II, 591-628. Drachm (Silver, 32 mm, 4.00 g, 2 h), PL (Fōrāt-Mēšān), RY 37 = AD 627. Draped bust of Khosrau II to right, wearing an elaborate mural crown; behind head, ‘GDE / ʾp̄zwt'’ (‘[may his] glory increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘hwslwb’ = ‘Husraw’ (‘Khosrau’ in Pahlavi); in the outer margin, ‘ʾp̄d’ = ‘abd’ (‘wonderful’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, date in Pahlavi; to right, PL (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Göbl type II/3. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die, otherwise, extremely fine.
